There was no way to skip ahead to make the places less cluttered, but you had to do them in a very specific order.

I know quests always had a very specific order, but you used to be able to skip some. Especially if you leveled ahead of them, and all you'd miss out on was the possible follow-ups on the quests you skipped. Now you can't continue at all without finishing them.Sagahttp://spellbound.nu/gdpw/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4659326122793396570.post-5156433926071678902010-12-13T16:44:16.919+00:002010-12-13T16:44:16.919+00:00"I guess they don't expect a lot of peopl..."I guess they don't expect a lot of people who are only just starting to buy the base game and all three expansions at once."

Very true. OK, let's just call it poor planning, then. ;)Teshhttp://tishtoshtesh.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4659326122793396570.post-89993927530315772672010-12-13T15:03:50.733+00:002010-12-13T15:03:50.733+00:00Errr...dry not try.Errr...dry not try.Tamhttp://www.righteousorbs.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4659326122793396570.post-28899771177608158692010-12-13T15:00:10.780+00:002010-12-13T15:00:10.780+00:00Flattering but blatantly untrue :P I'd be rea...Flattering but blatantly untrue :P I'd be really interested on your take in Vashj'ir actually, since I think that manages to get the balance right between telling a genuinely absorbing story and not dragging the player along by the wrist.

I'm kind of ambivalent about worgen too. It's a cool concept but have you SEEN the casting animation?! My druid looks like he's trying to try his nailpolish. It's NOT a good look.Tamhttp://www.righteousorbs.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4659326122793396570.post-70201562828765755332010-12-10T23:37:53.036+00:002010-12-10T23:37:53.036+00:00Yep, I saw that post by BBB and your design! That's what reminded me of Twilight in the first place, as I'm otherwise blissfully unaware of it for the most part.

I think the goblin and worgen starter zones are intentionally designed with an eye on the experienced player who's returning or rolling up an alt. I guess they don't expect a lot of people who are only just starting to buy the base game and all three expansions at once.Shintarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16758343475446510635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4659326122793396570.post-39965130233283495632010-12-10T17:25:59.457+00:002010-12-10T17:25:59.457+00:00If the Twilight buzz is bugging you, you could alw...If the Twilight buzz is bugging you, you could always go check out BBB's latest parody:

http://thebigbearbutt.com/2010/12/09/team-greymane-design-complete/

There's something delicious about mocking Twilight while promoting WoW. ;)

I wonder... will new players even care about things like the profession trainer phasing out? I mean, it's only a big deal if you're looking for him, right? There aren't even any tooltips pointing newbies to professions. At all.

That's not to excuse what may well be poor planning, I'm just noting that if you're a new player along for the ride of the grand story of the Worgen, maybe you wouldn't notice those things?Teshhttp://tishtoshtesh.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
